Watford v Derby 2-1 Deeney missing again but Pedro scored the first although he didn’t really know much about it as the cross from Sarr who really showed his pace hit Derby’s Andre Wisdom and hit pedro’s trailing leg sneaking past marshall, Watford were very dominant early on and they doubled the lead through the excellent Will Hughes who was the best player on the pitch, it was his first time facing old club derby.
Coventry v Brentford 2-0 Going into last Sunday’s game Brentford had not lost in 21 games they have now lost 3 in six days after they were beaten by a very good Coventry display, As they do Coventry took the game to Brentford who were without the leagues top scorer Toney for this one and it showed just how much they missed him as there were a few crosses put in that you have to feel he would have loved.
Bristol City v Barnsley 0-1 Sacking the manager certainly has not improved the confidence of the players, Barnsley simply did the basics better in what was in truth a terrible game of very few clear cut chances, Barnsley certainly had the better openings Callum Brittain should have scored but a fine save from Bristol keeper Bentley kept it out.
Cardiff City v Preston 4-0 A woeful defeat for Preston here Cardiff were so economic with their chances again and despite having only 36% possession they won 4-0, an early Penalty say Keifer Moore give Cardiff the lead and continue his good run of goals, Preston dominated possession without doing much and went in at half time one down likely feeling they could turn it around but very quickly it was 2-0 a fine finish really from Josh Murphy.
Huddersfield v Swansea 4-1 We talked about it Friday how we just felt this was going to be the game that had this weekends shock but I don’t think we figured it would be this easy. Huddersfield have 7 players currently out injured and Toffolo suspended but they were great today they pressed non stop with such energy all over the pitch and it payed off on 22 minutes when after good pressing the ball found pipa who crossed for campbell to score
Millwall v Wycombe 0-0 Not a lot happened in this one really Millwall have become draw specialists and Wycombe need wins really not draws. Stockdale was in goal for Wycombe today after allsop went down injured midweek, he had been away at league two side Stevenage, he did well though to keep out
Norwich v Rotherham 1-0 Rotherham started the better really here Lewis Wing hitting the post direct from a corner and then Robinson having a goal disallowed, Norwich upped it after that and Bunedia, Cantwell and Pukki combined so well all day and they were all involved in the only goal a through ball by bunedia was celeverly dummied by cantwell to allow Pukki to run onto it and fire home,
Nottingham Forest v Blackburn 1-0 Despite having a lot of the ball in this one it was forest who had the better of the chances and almost were made to pay for missing them, Glenn Murray and Knockhaert had great chances to give them the lead before Murray also had another effort cleared off the line QPR v Bournemouth 2-1 Bournemouth started well here Wilshere split the rangers defence to set Billing away but dieng was equal to it and again soon after when Long was put clean through and should have done better really but allowed Dieng to save again. In the second half Chair who is son dangerous from set plays found Barbet and his effort hit the Bournemouth bar. Reading v Middlesbrough 0-2 We said this was a big game for the playoff race and by winning Boro are now just five behind Reading and 3 points back from Bournemouth. Reading had lost 7 of the last 8 against Boro and this made that 8 in 9. Fry set up Fletcher for the opening goal after 22 minutes and seven minutes later a wonderful Bola strike made it two nil. Sheffield Wednesday v Birmingham City 0-1 The two lowest scoring teams in the league met here and it was as drab as you would expect, an awful first half saw the best chance fall to Gardner for Birmingham when he headed wide from a great position. The game turned on two fouls either side of halftime first Shaw went in on Sanchez to be booked and then just after the break he brought down Colin to pick up a second yellow and leave Wednesday down to ten men. Stoke v Luton 3-0 A return to Stoke for Nathan Jones which was about as unhappy today as his spell in charge there was. An unfortunate slip by Sonny Bradley was pounced on by Fletcher who ran into the box before squaring for Powell to tap in. in the second half another error allowed allen to cross the ball which Powell rose highest to power in his second of the game and make it two nil, another badly timed slip when after a poor pass by Craine. Tuesday Birmingham v Norwich Derby v Huddersfield Middlesbrough v Bristol City Luton v Millwall Rotherham v Nottingham Forest Wycombe v Reading Wednesday Barnsley v Stoke Brentford v Sheffield Wednesday Swansea v Coventry Blackburn v Watford Bournemouth v Cardiff Preston v QPR
