SMTV’s top five Irish sports personalities who could conquer WWE

Ahead of the highly anticipated return of WWE Live in Dublin’s 3 Arena on Sunday November 10th, the SportsMatters team have sat down in New York City to discuss 5 Irish sports stars who would conquer the WWE.

At Number 5 – Patrick Horgan (GAA Hurling Star)

Patrick Horgan also known as ‘Hoggie’ is regarded as one of the Greatest GAA Hurlers of all time. The 31 year old Glen man has claimed yet another All Star award and we believe he has the power, speed and hunger to perhaps trouble some of the stars of the WWE Lockeroom. We like the thoughts of a potential WWE Live Show in Dublin featuring Mr Horgan and perhaps former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston.

At Number 4 – Katie Taylor (World Boxing Champion)

Katie Taylor is regarded by 99.9% of Irish people as Ireland’s greatest ever Sportstar. The Olympic Gold Medalist and Two Weight Boxing Champion of the world would be a huge addition to the female WWE locker room with her amazing boxing skills, aggression and  hand speed. We have know doubts that many of the ladies in the WWE locker room are already aware of the Bray Native. Could we perhaps see an ‘ALL IRISH’ clash between Katie and ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch in the near future? We sure hope so.

At Number 3 – O’Donovan Brothers (Rowing Champions)

We are super proud of our 3rd pick. The O’Donovan brothers need no introduction. European and World Rowing Champions and Olympic stars, this boys have the fitness and athletic ability to challenge ‘THE NEW DAY‘ for sure. We can vision this match right now. They are also too cheeky chaps who would happily work the WWE MIC and call out the locker room. Future Tag Team Champions in the WWE? That sounds good too us.

At Number 2 – Roy Keane (Football Legend)

As the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin would say ‘One of the toughest son of a bitch’. Cork legend and former Manchester Untied star Roy Keane is regarded by the football world as one of the hardest men to ever play the game. Keane was known for his leadership and hard and no nonsense play on the field and would challenge players bigger then himself on the field. We can certainly see Roy Keane take on WWE stars such as Randy Orton and AJ Styles and The Big Red Machine Kane in the near future. One thing’s for sure guys, Roy Keane fears nobody.

And our Number 1 pick – Gary Spike O’Sullivan (Irish Boxing Star)

His got the swagger, and techniques and nothing but pure power to trouble the WWE Lockeroom that’s for sure. His fought big fights at MSG NYC, T Mobile Arena Las Vegas and of course in his hometown of Cork. Gary Spike O’Sullivan is without a doubt one of the toughest athletes in the world today. The humble boxing star is a star worldwide for his hardwork, awesome power and pure passion for boxing. We would certainly like to see Gary perhaps take on WWE giants Big show or perhaps Roman Reigns in a WWE Ring in the near future. His our deserved number one pick.

Don’t forget wrestling fans that the WWE returns to Ireland next week, making a stop at the 3 Arena Dublin on Sunday November 10th. Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster.ie
