Watch: RTE Sports legend Ger Canning on SportsMatters

We were honoured to catch up with RTE Sporting great Ger Canning for an exclusive interview. Mr Canning joined RTE in the 70s and has been ever present covering over 80 All Ireland Finals and many World Cups and Olympic games plus more. Ger Canning was born in Cork on 10 May 1951.

He was a secondary school teacher at South Presentation school in Cork City when he began his broadcasting career with Cork Local Radio in 70s. To date Ger is highly regarded by many as one of the countries greatest ever commentators. His a popular figure acorns Leeside and massively respected for his work in Sport.

He was one of Jerry’s teachers in Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa so it was a great honour for Jerry & SportsMatters to have Ger Canning on for an interview. #rte
